We are seeking a Principal or Lead RF Engineer to take technical ownership of RF and mmW design across a portfolio of telecommunications and defence products. Based at a new, purpose-built facility in County Durham (RELOCATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE), you will lead design activity from concept through to production, working within a well-equipped environment supported by experienced engineers and in-house manufacturing capability.
This role offers the opportunity to deliver technically challenging products across both niche and higher volume programmes.
- Lead RF and mmW design across circuits, modules, and systems for telecommunications and defence applications
- Take ownership of specification, simulation, design, and verification activity
- Perform system line up and tolerance analysis, ensuring performance and manufacturability
- Support component, IC, and MMIC selection, including supplier engagement
- Work closely with mechanical, electronics, PCB, manufacturing, and test teams to deliver robust designs
- Lead design reviews, manage technical risks, and support verification and validation activities
- Support fault finding and product improvement during introduction and production
- Provide technical guidance to engineers and support best practice across the team
- Degree or equivalent in RF, Microwave, Electronics, or Communications Engineering
- Strong experience in RF and or mmW circuit or system design
- Proficiency with RF design tools such as Microwave Office, ADS, CST, or EMPro
- Solid understanding of microwave design, system analysis, and design for manufacture
- Experience working within telecommunications and or defence environments
- Ability to lead technical activity and communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience across full RF signal chains or subsystem design
- Background in high-reliability or regulated industries
- Experience supporting design transfer into manufacture
- Knowledge of RF modules such as amplifiers, filters, or transceivers
- Technical ownership within a well invested engineering environment
- Access to in house manufacturing capability
- Exposure to a broad range of RF and mmW products
