Job Summary
Facility Operator under the direction of the Field Supervisor. Supports operation of water production facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, booster stations, distribution system, and wastewater collection system.
Essential Duties- Maintains equipment at assigned water production facilities and booster stations.
- Operates and maintains distribution systems including mains, valves, hydrants, and service lines.
- Maintains equipment at wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations.
- Operates and maintains sewer collection systems, including collection mains and pump stations.
- Troubleshoots and repairs service piping and related equipment.
- Performs routine water quality analysis in accordance with established processes and procedures.
- Adjusts chemical treatment to ensure water quality meets standards.
- Calculates various ratios and dosages for chemical treatment.
- Completes customer service work orders, updates and maintains system documentation, and closes work orders per department policies and procedures.
- Performs all tasks safely, professionally, and in compliance with company policies, local, state, and federal laws, rules, and guidelines.
- Assists with other tasks or projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Familiarity with computers/tablets and basic operation of database, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow operating instructions written and verbal.
- Mathematical ability to perform calculations for ratios, dosages, and volumetric requirements for the operation of wastewater and water treatment plants.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of the need to prevent wastewater pollution of area waters.
- Familiarity with computer‑controlled equipment processes.
- Team player able to work effectively in a team‑fostered, multi‑tasking environment.
- FO Trainee – Must obtain a C Wells or Grade I wastewater license within 18 months.
- FO I – Minimum requirement of C Wells or Grade I license.
- FO II – Must meet dual licensing requirements and hold a B Wells or Grade II license.
- FO III – Must have dual licenses with at least a B Wells and Grade II plus an A Wells or Grade III.
Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, wet/humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas, fume, dust, mist hazards, and poor ventilation. Must lift and carry up to 75 lbs, travel to work sites, and be available on-call nights and weekends.
