Engineer Intern (EI) – Transportation
Location:
Raleigh, NC – Transportation Roadway Division. 2‑5 years professional experience required.
WGI has delivered transportation projects in North Carolina for the last two decades. The role includes development of transportation design projects for state, county, and municipal agencies.
Responsibilities- Develop engineering designs including geometric alignments, profiles, and cross sections for Roadway Design projects.
- Generate construction plans using Bentley Open Roads.
- Perform construction quantity estimates.
- Cross‑train in other transportation disciplines such as drainage, signage and pavement marking, and maintenance of traffic.
- Develop plans, calculations, and specifications in collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited four‑year college.
- Passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam – EI registration is a strong plus.
- Experience with Micro Station/Bentley Open Roads.
- Familiarity with NCDOT plans preparation criteria and design standards is a plus.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently on large multidisciplinary teams.
Work performed in an office setting. Requires hand‑eye coordination, use of computer, keyboard, mouse, and phone headset for virtual communication. Prolonged sitting and fine motor use required. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and focus adjustment.
