** Join Our Team as the Burgaw Regional Laboratory Manager!
Join the dedicated team at the NCDOT’s Materials and Tests Unit, where we ensure the highest quality of materials for roadway construction across North Carolina.
About Us:
Our Unit is dedicated to establishing acceptance criteria for materials and manufactured products, ensuring they meet the highest standards and function as intended. We play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the North Carolina Highway System, in accordance with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Regulations.
Your Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated laboratory supervisor to lead our Burgaw Regional Laboratory and a satellite asphalt laboratory nearby in Kinston, NC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction materials testing and a passion for maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee, authorize, and manage the daily activities of technicians in the regional and satellite laboratories.
• Ensure accurate and timely testing of construction materials while adhering to strict safety protocols.
• Understand customer requirements and optimize lab procedures, schedules, and staffing to exceed expectations.
• Develop and implement laboratory goals that align with departmental objectives and policies.
• Ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations, including the prudent use of financial resources and maintenance of AASHTO accreditations.
• Promote a safe, satisfying, and enriching work environment by encouraging employee development and continuous improvement.
• Serve as a technical resource for colleagues within and outside the department, providing guidance on technical problems and procedures.
