Safety Specialist

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in safety-related role and 2 years of telecom experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong command of the English language is required
• Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time
• Must possess knowledge of safety and equipment specific to the communications industry.
• Must be available after hours, holidays & weekends
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations
• Knowledge of safety inspection and auditing techniques
• Physical ability to perform inspections in various environments
• Basic understanding of first aid and emergency response procedures

The Safety Specialist position will be responsible for ensuring that all safety standards are met within the company.

• Maintains records and files of all surveys, inspections, and incidents to assure compliance with corporate, state, and federal requirements pertaining to reporting hazardous incidents, motor vehicle accidents and personal injuries
• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures
• Provide safety training and education to employees
• Investigate accidents and incidents to determine their causes
• Recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents
• Prepare and present safety reports to management
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards for both Subcontractors and in-house employees
• Participates in selected OSHA and Safety Certification courses as directed by Management
• Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary
• Monitor and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Assist in developing emergency response plans
