Overview
The position of Electrical & Firmware Engineering Manager at Zurn Elkay Water Solutions Corporation involves leading a team of electrical and firmware engineers through product development from concept to launch, while ensuring alignment with business goals and fostering cross‑functional collaboration.
What You’ll Do- Lead and develop the electrical and firmware engineering team.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Support career development and technical growth across the team.
- Build team capability and create clear ownership and accountability.
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration with Mechanical Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Quality, and Manufacturing.
- Facilitate collaboration between electrical, firmware, and mechanical teams throughout product development.
- Resolve technical and organizational challenges that impact project execution.
- Guide technical direction and approve engineering designs, architecture decisions, and technical recommendations.
- Ensure engineering work aligns with product requirements, business goals, and development timelines.
- Support new product development and oversee the electrical/firmware portions of multiple active programs.
- Monitor project progress, remove technical obstacles, and partner with project leaders to meet schedules and priorities.
- Improve product reliability and business continuity, including component obsolescence management and second‑source qualification.
- Support cost reduction, quality improvement, and warranty reduction initiatives.
- Drive root‑cause analysis and corrective actions when needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and development efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in product development environments.
- Experience with embedded systems, electronics, firmware, or connected products.
- Experience leading projects, mentoring engineers, or providing technical leadership.
- Strong understanding of product development processes and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Previous engineering management or supervisory experience.
- Experience leading electrical and firmware engineering teams.
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial product environments.
- Experience with microcontrollers, hardware/software integration, and embedded systems.
- Experience supporting new product development from concept through launch.
- Experience with component obsolescence management, validation testing, and product reliability initiatives.
By your first year, electrical and firmware teams will be fully integrated into the broader product development process, strong partnerships will exist across disciplines, new‑product projects will move efficiently through validation and launch, engineers will grow in capability and ownership, and the team will be viewed as a proactive contributor to innovation and business success.
