What You Will Do

JOB SUMMARY:

Support Operations and the Electrical and Maintenance Departments by providing technical guidance and electronic/automation skills (with technical guidance from senior level staff) to help minimize production downtime. Collaborate on the design and application of advanced and complex electronic systems, including programming, to accomplish desired results. Contribute to assigned projects and provide automation support as part of the Operational Production Team to Electricians, Engineering Specialist, and Project Engineering.

Partners with senior staff for implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electronic automation and control systems throughout Operations.

  • Apply hands‑on knowledge of manufacturing equipment to include, but not limited to, VFD, PLC (AB‑Sver Simens‑Beckholf etc.), HMI, networking including Profibus, Control Net, Device Net, Ether Net, control panels and industrial PCs, thin clients, auto guided vehicles, high‑speed make‑pack equipment, robots, servo drives, quality check cameras and scanners, bar code readers, microwave head calibration, adjustment, VMware proficiency, marking systems, laser/ink jet printers, lot tracking, laser production equipment, data acquisition/reconciliation, warehouse storage, retrieval systems, machine parameter/centerline governance, backup/recovery imaging, waste reduction, basic IT skills, load cell and weighing devices, blending equipment including bulkers, motors, conveyors, spray application systems, process piping knowledge proficiency (including piping, valves, pneumatic, pumps, flowmeters, etc.),

    lot tracking – loading/downloading/troubleshooting, data acquisition reporting systems, etc.
  • Proficiency in multiple skill clusters including electricity, electronics, fluid power, mechanical systems, manufacturing processes.
  • Support Facilities Maintenance, Production Maintenance, Engineering, Operations by applying electrical technical knowledge/training to ET system training, mentorship, including programming, machine troubleshooting for electrical, automated systems.
  • Maintain/recommend adequate spare parts for production and facility equipment by evaluating the M&R spare part inventory, set up parts for new equipment, and recommend and locate replacements for obsolescence issues as they occur.
  • Partner with Loss Teams, Mini Business Units, Maintenance Supervisors, and electronic technicians in analyzing equipment performance, root‑cause analysis, identifying sources of repeat failure, recommending solutions, and assisting with implementation of solution.
  • Instrumentation knowledge and background to support installation, qualification and calibration of instrumentation throughout the facility ensuring audit records are always current and in compliance.
  • Target weight verification/standard adherence to written standards, P&D brand standards and creation on equipment, well communicated shift transition, and application of Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Perform PC imaging including PLC and HMI backups for equipment reliability and "hot swap" replacement.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams improving and streamlining manufacturing processes through the design, configuration, implementation, integration of process control and automation systems.
  • Collect and analyze manufacturing data and metrics to improve equipment to reduce process stops and resolve issues with long‑term solutions.
  • Continually improve technical expertise through schools, seminars, and presentations which are directly related to job function.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education and Experience:

    High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years industry‑related experience, or Associate's degree in Electronics, or the equivalent, and select advanced engineering courses with 1+ years of experience with electronic controls and instrumentation including design work.
  • Electronics controls, instrumentation, and design work.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
