Position: Electrical Distribution Project Engineer

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver electrical distribution projects (up to 34.5 kV) from design through execution.
  • Serve as a technical expert while guiding and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Own project success by managing scope, budget, schedule, and quality across multi‑discipline teams.
  • Partner directly with clients to develop solutions, present designs, and drive project outcomes.
  • Play a key role in shaping project strategy, improving processes, and supporting business growth.
Project Execution
  • Prepare engineering deliverables for multiple projects.
  • Conduct research to develop equipment and material recommendations.
  • Manage data and perform complex engineering calculations.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines.
  • Lead larger production teams, coordinate multiple discipline activities, and serve as the responsible charge for a project.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Apply knowledge and comply with the company quality program on assigned tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with the quality program while performing internal QA technical reviews.
  • Provide guidance and direction to teammates and other project disciplines.
  • Support continuous improvement and change‑management efforts.
Client Focus
  • Interface directly with clients, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Identify key client interests and drivers for projects.
  • Communicate client concerns to the project team and develop solutions.
  • Provide support for business development or pursuit activities.
  • Manage project changes directly with the client under the Project Manager’s supervision.
Engineering Production
  • Prepare complex engineering deliverables.
  • Lead large multi‑discipline teams to meet project deliverables.
  • Provide technical leadership for distribution line projects.
  • Drive solutions to achieve project goals.
Management Responsibilities
  • Review lower‑level engineering work or assignments.
  • Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work.
  • Lead smaller production teams and serve as the responsible charge for a project.
  • Manage work assignments and ensure quality from the project team.
  • Actively participate in management, project scheduling, and work/resource planning meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing engineering design services for overhead and underground distribution line projects for investor‑owned utilities in the United States.
  • Experience in design of overhead and underground distribution projects (4 kV–34.5 kV).
  • Good communication skills and interest in engaging with clients to grow relationships.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards, including NESC and NEC.
  • Working knowledge of interdisciplinary project coordination: procurement, subcontract administration, permitting, real‑estate and land acquisition, and construction support.
  • Working knowledge of the proposal process and developing engineering estimates.
  • PE license highly preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited program in the United States, or in the country in which the professional is practicing.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, and motor‑vehicle records search), in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
  • Ability to utilize audio/videoconferencing software tools for internal/external communication.
  • Sitting, standing or computer usage for extended periods of time.
  • Travel to client sites as required.
