Overview
We are looking for a Lead Wastewater Process Engineer to play a critical role in designing and overseeing conventional wastewater treatment projects. The position requires technical expertise in established treatment processes, leadership of engineering activities, and collaboration with multi‑disciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities- Function as a technical specialist in conventional wastewater treatment (physical/chemical primary treatment, activated sludge, BNR, fixed‑film processes, M , sidestream treatment, tertiary filtration, disinfection).
- Provide technical guidance to a process team, supervise engineering staff, and collaborate with design teams to implement complex treatment solutions.
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables: process models, mass balance calculations, design criteria, flow diagrams, P&IDs, trade‑off studies, and master planning studies.
- Conduct applied research, bench/pilot/full‑scale testing, and incorporate results into process models.
- Develop treatment recommendations, select equipment and materials, and manage data for modeling and design.
- Assist with client engagement: identify client needs, communicate solutions, support business development, and present at conferences.
- Mentor junior engineers, participate in performance management, and contribute to career development initiatives.
- Provide guidance on engineering standards, codes, and Black & Veatch quality programs; support continuous improvement and change management.
- Implement resource management strategy and manage engineering resources for small groups.
- Ensure policy and procedure compliance and oversee administrative tasks such as expense approvals.
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering.
- At least 10 years of wastewater treatment experience, with 5 years in water quality and treatment.
- Advanced knowledge of municipal wastewater process design and applicable design guides.
- Experience with modern process simulators (Bio Win, GPS‑X, Sumo, Simba).
- Strong leadership skills, client service, and business development experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication; effective teamwork and conflict management.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 11 years of related work experience.
- Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements.
- Professional engineering license in any U.S. state or ability to obtain one within 2 years.
- Hybrid or flexible work options available after 90 days.
- Typical office and construction environments, exposure to extreme weather, high noise, safety hazards, chemicals, and other occupational hazards.
- Work requires standing, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs, and use of a computer.
