The Opportunity
  • Focus on large‑scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects with a focus on the delivery of projects by leading significant portions of a variety of facilities throughout the cycle of design and construction, and startup phases as a technical specialist or lead
  • Hands‑on involvement in developing reports or technical memos, completing studies, detailed designs, and specifications, collaborating to complete cost estimates, and preparing contract documents
  • Participation in scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration for infrastructure projects is also part of the role, including involvement in business development and preparation of proposals
  • Coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.
  • Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on less complex projects.
  • Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on less complex projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform design of projects from the conceptual and bid phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set by the project managers based on client needs
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in maintaining project schedules and budgets
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in managing sub‑consultants
  • Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, interface directly with the client or sub‑consultants
  • Support business development through writing of technical approaches, scopes of work, and presentation to clients
  • Utilize knowledge of regularly used civil concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the water engineering industry
  • Apply knowledge to complex projects, find and develop non‑standard design solutions to better serve client project specifications
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced engineers
  • Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines and the project team
  • Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables
  • Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or material selection
  • Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles; manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements
  • Plan and conduct independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Review engineering work and/or assignments of early career professionals
  • Be responsible for one or more of the following: overseeing collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work; leading smaller production teams; and serving as the responsible charge for a project
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Licensed PE or ability and interest to obtain PE and/or be in active pursuit of registration
  • Thorough understanding of water and wastewater design (e.g., infrastructure, conveyance, pump stations/lift stations)
  • Ability and motivation to lead portions of complex projects with guidance and mentorship
