Overview
IPS is a global leader in consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV for technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are seeking a dedicated VDC Scanning Technician to join our team based in US office locations (MA, NJ, PA, MD, NC, KS, CA).
This position will require travel between two active project sites located in Michigan and Indiana. Travel frequency and duration will vary depending on project needs.
Responsibilities- Execute high-quality laser scanning operations across various project sites, ensuring data is collected according to high standards and project specifications.
- Transform scans into valuable data while adhering to established quality control protocols; assist with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and support data processing as needed.
- Travel frequently to project sites and coordinate with data processing teams to manage workloads effectively.
Additional Responsibilities
- Develop expertise in cutting-edge scanning technologies and software, with a commitment to continuous learning and proficiency in the latest advancements in the field.
- Uphold quality control protocols for scanning activities, ensuring the data is accurate and reliable.
- Assist in writing and maintaining SOPs for laser scanning operations, documenting best practices and operational guidelines.
- Operate Leica RTC
360, BLK2GO, Topcon Total Station, Nav Vis VLX, and other scanning hardware, building hands-on expertise. - Learn and provide support to Data Processing Technicians, supporting collaboration between field data collection and data processing.
- Bachelor's/Associate's/Technical degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 5-7 years of experience in computer-assisted drafting, design, scanning, construction, surveying, civil, and VDC/BIM.
- Demonstrated leadership in laser scanning with experience managing complex projects and challenging environments.
- Expertise in troubleshooting data quality and equipment issues with a track record of maintaining data integrity.
- Commitment to professional development with mastery of current scanning technologies and awareness of emerging trends and tools.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and mentorship abilities, with a focus on building a cohesive field technician team.
- Stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Climb ladders as necessary.
- Work in indoor and outdoor environments with varying conditions.
- Adhere to cleanroom gowning protocols as required.
- 75-100% travel or as required by the assigned project.
- May be assigned to the client site for extended periods; overnight travel or staying in the city of the client location is possible depending on assignment.
- Review the IPS Travel Policy; visit construction sites and complete site safety training and adhere to site safety rules.
- Must have access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel on a daily or routine basis.
- Work schedule may require flexibility, including availability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts and weekends.
- This position is a safety-sensitive role.
- Employee will perform field work at client sites in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, or other non-administrative areas.
All interviews are conducted either in person or virtually, with video required.
