At Jacobs, we redefine what’s possible by challenging the status quo and delivering innovative, sustainable solutions for tomorrow. If you’re ready to advance your career alongside some of the industry’s most talented engineers and project leaders, this is where you belong.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Water/Wastewater Project Manager to join our Water Solutions Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. In this role, you’ll help lead the design and delivery of water and wastewater facilities for both conventional and design‑build projects, ranging from $1M to over $250M in construction value. With a strong backlog of water and wastewater treatment projects, you’ll have the chance to shape cutting‑edge solutions and grow your expertise in the technologies that matter most to you.

While being based in Charlotte is strongly preferred to support team collaboration and mentoring, we will consider candidates located in North Carolina or the Columbia/upstate South Carolina region. Candidates should expect to work onsite in Charlotte (or potentially Greensboro, Greenville, or Cary) approximately two days per week.

Here’s what you’ll do
  • Manage and support the planning and design of water and wastewater facilities, addressing challenges such as emerging contaminants and nutrient removal.
  • Oversee diverse projects in water treatment, wastewater treatment, conveyance, and modeling.
  • Serve as a primary client interface, leading workshops, facilitating discussions, and maintaining strong relationships to ensure expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Drive project coordination across disciplines and uphold quality standards throughout all design phases.
  • Mentor engineers and designers, fostering technical growth and collaborative team culture.
  • Contribute to technical strategies and design planning for project pursuits, leveraging client insights to shape innovative solutions.
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 7+ years of experience in detailed design of water/wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and conveyance systems.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines.
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Experience in construction and startup of water/wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Design experience with advanced wastewater processes.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in distributed team environments.
  • Employees have access to medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discount.
  • Eligible employees may also enroll in a deferred compensation plan or the Executive Deferral Plan.
  • Jacobs has an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for full‑time salaried/exempt employees, seven paid holidays, and caregiver leave.
  • And certain roles may be eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, performance discretionary bonus, and stock.

The base salary range for this position is $ to $. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
