Position Summary

The Event Specialist will help ensure a high level of customer service for events and conferences at the Carolina Union. Responsibilities include answering client questions, resolving event‑day needs, supporting maintenance and inventory of lighting, audio, and projection equipment across 2 performance venues, 26 meeting rooms, and off‑site programs. The role works with Event Managers to support successful event execution, assist in supervising and training student staff, and communicate event support needs and production updates via 25

Live scheduling platform and email.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Management Experience
  • Experience in professional event support, preferably in higher education.
  • Proficiency with 25

    Live or similar event management software.
  • Experience working in a student union or comparable environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a customer service‑focused setting.
  • Knowledge of event management principles or familiarity with technical event production (audio mixing, lighting design, staging, projection).
Special Physical/Mental Requirements

Ability to move up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities

Designated as Campus Security Authority under the Clery Act. Must report Clery crimes and complete annual reporting training.
