Specialty Underwriter II - Private Banking

Overview

This is a remote/hybrid role that may be hired in several markets across the US with preferred locations in Boston, Melo Park, Denver, Seattle, or NC.

This position is responsible for evaluating and underwriting Private Banking loan applications, specifically for Tailored Lending products. Works independently to assess risk and creditworthiness for core lending activities. Works with senior underwriter on highest complexity requests. Collaborates with sales associates and senior credit personnel on loan decisions and structure, ensuring lending activities comply with federal and state regulations.

• Underwriting:
  Working on moderate level of deal complexity, evaluates credit applications according to applicable regulations, FCB credit standards, procedures, and guidelines. Assesses personal and business financial statements to determine risk and creditworthiness. Conducts detailed cash flow analysis. Completes written credit memorandum detailing risks, mitigants, and sources of repayment including non-traditional sources. Identifies exceptions to credit standards and assigns risk ratings.
• Risk Management:
  
  Identifies credit and other risks during initial underwriting of loan requests. Works closely with bank associates and partners to resolve risk issues including upcoming maturities and loan renewals. Participates in periodic portfolio reviews and client discussions to identify and manage emerging risks. Effectively evaluates the risk and recommends an appropriate credit rating.
• Business Support:
  Assists sales team with preliminary screening of opportunities. Resolves inquiries on underwriting and denial compliance. Ensures loan documentation and booking accuracy. Drives efficiency in credit approval, loan documentation, and closing processes.
• Mentoring:
  Guides less experienced underwriters in credit analysis and process. Reviews credit memoranda for errors and opportunities for improvement.

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Consumer or Commercial Underwriting OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Consumer or Commercial Underwriting.

Preferred Education:

Bachelor's Degree.

Skills:

Understanding of financial principals and concepts, Knowledge of banking, loan and credit terminology, Attention to detail.

The base pay for this position is generally between $75,500 and $144,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
