PositionSummary
The Senior Manager of Accounting oversees all daily accounting, internal financial controls, budgeting and reporting operations. They are responsible for the general ledger and financial statement accuracy. This role combines day‑to‑day accounting management with higher‑level financial planning, analysis, process development, management and leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Accounting & Financial Operations
- Oversee all accounting functions and processes, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain internal controls and safeguard company assets.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and credit facilities.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
- Establish and lead an annual budgeting process and periodic re‑forecasting.
- Monitor actual results versus budget and investigate variances.
- Prepare financial reports and dashboards for leadership and ownership.
- Support department leaders with budget and financial performance indicators.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax, payroll, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate tax filings and work with external CPAs, auditors, and advisors.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
- Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Establish priorities, workflows, and best practices to ensure efficiency and accuracy in AP, AR, payroll processing, expense card and asset management processes.
- Foster a collaborative, service‑oriented finance function that supports the broader organization.
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Oversee accounting systems including migration between platforms; recommend and implement improvements as needed.
- Streamline accounting and financial processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Support cross‑functional initiatives by providing financial insight and data.
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
