Hiring 3 Mainframe Engineers (DB2, z/OS, or CICS/MQ) – Hybrid in Cary, NC or Tampa, FL
Location: Cary, NC OR Tampa, FL – Hybrid (3x onsite: Mon/Tues/Thurs)
Salary: $110k – $150k (based on experience)
Duration: Contract to Direct Hire
We are actively hiring for 3 separate Mainframe Infrastructure roles within a large enterprise environment. These positions sit within the same team but focus on different areas of the mainframe stack.
1) DB2 / Database Performance Engineer- DB2 on z/OS (infrastructure-level, not just DBA work)
- Performance tuning, workload analysis, and troubleshooting
- Experience with DB2 across CICS, batch processing, and MQ
- WLM, system performance tuning, and capacity planning
- JES2, SMP/E, and system configuration
- Troubleshooting OS-level issues and system-wide outages
- Strong CICS & IBM MQ experience
- Troubleshooting transaction failures, latency, and message flow
- P1/P2 incident support at the middleware/application layer
- Strong production support background
- Ability to troubleshoot high-impact issues
- Experience supporting critical infrastructure systems
- Comfort working with external vendors (IBM, Kyndryl, etc.) and holding them accountable to SLAs, deliverables, and issue resolution
- Production support and incident resolution
- Performance tuning and system optimization
- Diagnosing complex issues across integrated systems
- Partnering with internal teams and external vendors to resolve incidents
- Driving accountability with vendors during outages and performance issues
You do NOT need experience across all three areas — we’ll align you to the right role based on your background.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
