Reporting to the Correctional Housing Unit Manager I, this position provides supervision for subordinate officers regarding their assigned tasks with male offenders in a Minimum/Medium/Close custody state correctional facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post
- Supervising and assigning subordinate officers to a particular area or post.
- Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
- Accounting for persons and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
- Responsible for subordinate officers' activities relating to the custody and welfare of offenders.
- Working rotating and various duty assignments within the defined level of work.

- Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679

- Knowledge of facility operations.
- Knowledge of Prisons' policy and procedures.
- MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
- Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
- Pass a criminal background check
- Produce a negative drug screening result
- Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
- Possess a valid driver's license

Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions.
