PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- STANDING – 11 hours on concrete floor
- SITTING – 1 hour for breaks and personal time
- MOVING (SELF) – Up and down throughout entire shift moving separation rods between heddles to finish cycle of machine.
- CLIMBING – Up and down ladder approx. 48 times/shift.
- MOVING (MATERIALS) – Pushes 1,500‑2,000 lbs. on wheels 5 times/shift 400 ft. (2 men required)
- HEARING / SPEAKING – Must be able to hear prompt alarm from a distance of 10', ability to hear and speak to dept. personnel‑job related duties.
- REACHING – Must be able to reach approx. 40" (H) repeatedly throughout shift.
- VISUAL ACUITY – Must be able to read normal print; detect quality problems with pattern; distinguish colors; meet vision requirements for industrial licensure.
- BENDING / STOOPING – Bend over warp to check lease 5 times/shift. 30" above floor level.
- OTHER – Must be able to feed heddles as warp is being drawn.
Wear safety glasses when cutting out a bad heddle/dropwire. Hearing protection in designated areas. Shoes must cover entire foot, heel to toe. No jewelry, hair below shoulders must be pulled back and pinned up. Do not blow off clothes with air hose.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITESMANDATORY: High school graduate or equivalent. Basic math. Industrial truck license. Qualified Barber‑Coleman helper, computer knowledge.
PREFERRED: Weaving background, electronic background.
OTHER REQUIREMENTSMust be able to work assigned schedule and shift with minimal absences. Must be able to tolerate non‑toxic odors.
MACH, TOOLS, & EQUIP.Barber‑Coleman draw‑in machine, reed hook, tape measure, scissors, calculator, tools such as pliers, wrenches, allen wrenches, screwdrivers, computer diskettes, printer, harness truck.
MATERIALS USEDHeddles, dropwires, steel harness ribs, oils, various deniers of synthetic yarn, etc.
SUPERVISION RECEIVEDImmediate supervisor – works with minimum amount of supervision.
DIRECTION EXERCISEDDirects machine helpers as to the amount and kind of material needed.
