The Church Planting Resident at Point Church in Cary, NC, is a 12-month leadership development role designed to equip, prepare, and send a called leader to launch a new gospel-centered church within 18-24 months.
This residency focuses on training, fundraising, team building, and spiritual formation rather than traditional staff responsibilities. The resident actively participates in the Passion for Planting program while preparing to plant in a targeted community within 30 minutes of Point Church.
The goal is to send 50+ people from Point Church, along with $100,000 in financial support from Point Church and the church planting partners, to position the planter to launch a thriving, healthy, and self-sustaining church.
The church will pay the candidate a full salary for the first three months. During this time, the primary expectation is to focus on raising financial support for the following 36 months, ensuring the church plant is positioned to thrive financially and that the planter is equipped to provide for their family.
The planter will receive training and coaching to help them successfully raise financial support, build and multiply small groups, develop a launch team of 50+ during residency (growing to 100 within 18 months), and cultivate strong community relationships through intentional engagement and evangelism.
During the residency, the planter will grow in preaching, leadership, and disciple-making competencies while recruiting and developing leaders, casting vision, and establishing a foundation for a healthy, self-sustaining, and multiplying church.
By the end of the residency, the planter will be sent out with sufficient financial support, a committed team, and the leadership capacity to launch a thriving church reaching 200+ in attendance.
