Murdoch nurses work as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team with physicians, psychologists, pharmacists, psychiatrists, and social workers. Nurses gain professional fulfillment through the provision of evidence-based nursing practice with a person-centered approach. All employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.
Responsibilities- Provide competent patient assessment and nursing care in a 24/7 state residential facility for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and progress according to state regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training.
- PRN or full licensing as a Practical Nurse in North Carolina or a participating Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
- Completion of Healthcare Provider CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) written and physical requirements.
- Good standing with the North Carolina Personnel Health Care Registry.
- Preferred: experience with patients who have intellectual/developmental disabilities.
$46,220.00 - $56,812.00
Sign-On BonusA Sign-on bonus of $4,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) contingent on the Budget Approval. Eligibility requires 30-40 hours per week for full-time status, with a prorated rate for part-time. Recent employees of state government or prior recipients of a sign-on bonus are excluded.
Conditional Requirements- Must be able to pass Healthcare Provider CPR.
- Must be able to pass Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Weekend Option: 12‑hour shifts, 6:30 am‑7 pm. Rotation includes:
- Option 1: 36 hrs/1 week (F/S/S) with rotating weekends.
- Option 2: 36 hrs/week – permanent part‑time.
Murdoch Developmental Center is a 24/7 state residential facility located in Butner, NC, serving people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). The facility offers a caring community with professionals who work with individuals of various ages, cognitive and functional abilities.
