Registered Nurse (S) - Grade: MH15
The Children’s Needs Assessment Clinic is a program at the Center and requires an RN to assist in the overall assessment process, coordination and running of the Clinic appointment, to include associated documentation requirements. This RN will work closely with the Assessment Clinic Coordinator to fulfill these duties as their primary responsibility and will be assigned to assist in a residential professional nurse role as time allows and/or in emergent situations.
All employees of the Murdoch Center are designated as essential for adverse weather and emergency events.
- Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina or in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. See the North Carolina Board of Nursing website for a list of participating states
- Must pass Healthcare Provider CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) written and physical requirements as a condition of employment.
- Must have a valid Driver License.
Recruitment Range: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00.
A sign-on bonus of $10,000 may be offered to successful applicants, contingent on 2025‑2026 budget approval.
- Eligibility for sign-on bonus: new permanent full‑time or part‑time employee working 30‑40 hours per week; less than 40 hours yields prorated rate.
- Ineligible if employee held a position in the NC State government, judiciary, or UNC system within the last 12 months; previously received a sign-on bonus; or DHHS paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
Shift schedule: 8 am–5 pm five days per week with flexibility to work 6:30 am–3:00 pm; occasional rotating 12‑hour shift weekends 6:30 am–7:00 pm; schedule adjustments as needed.
Shift premium rates:
- 1st: 6:30 am–3 pm, 10% weekend only
- 2nd: 2:30 pm–11 pm, 15% weekday & 25% weekend
- 3rd: 10:45 pm–6:45 am, 20% weekday & 30% weekend
MDC is one of three regional developmental centers operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities in Butner, serving 25 counties in central North Carolina. It employs approximately 1,600 staff delivering residential services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, complex behavioral challenges, and/or medical conditions. MDC also administers four statewide programs for children and adolescents with complex needs.
Minimum Education and ExperienceLicensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
