Research Assistant Professor

Position Summary

Research Assistant Professor on a fixed‑term track to conduct fundamental research investigating molecular mechanisms by which viral ligands or RNA modifications control the virulence of Togaviridae, focusing on viral RNA decay and innate immune activation.

• Design and implement molecular biological experiments.
• Supervise graduate students and technicians.
• Analyze and interpret data and draw conclusions.
• Prepare manuscripts and grant proposals.
• Present research findings at conferences and meetings.
• Maintain laboratory equipment.

• Ph.D. in microbiology, molecular biology or related discipline.
• Post‑doctoral experience conducting genetic, molecular biological, and biochemical experiments with viruses and innate immune mechanisms.
• Experience conducting viral infection studies with tissue culture cells.
• Experience writing manuscripts and grant proposals.

• At least five years post‑doctoral experience researching mechanisms by which viral ligands or RNA modifications control innate immune activation, preferably with picornavirus or togavirus systems.
• Proficiency in molecular biological and genetic experiments (molecular cloning, PCR, allelic exchange, gene expression, protein profiling).
• Ability to design experiments, analyze data, and write manuscripts for publication.
• Experience writing grant proposals.
• Capability to supervise graduate students, post‑docs, and technicians.
• Desirable teaching experience.
