Position OverviewThe Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a PhD or MD/PhD researcher to join the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Critical Care and Burn. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience. The Division seeks highly qualified PhD level candidates to expand the breadth of basic and translational research. Expertise in hemostasis/coagulation, thrombosis, platelet biology, transfusion medicine, and/or resuscitation medicine is a plus.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies; develop and write grant proposals to secure extramural funding; obtain and maintain NIH R01 or equivalent funding.
- Write and publish research in high‑quality peer‑reviewed journals; attend and present research at national and international scientific conferences; develop a national and international scholarly reputation.
- Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellows; participate in department, college, and university committees and initiatives.
- PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field.
- Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research.
- Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01).
- Academic experience is a plus.
- Qualify for an academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level; academic rank and salary will be commensurate with prior training and experience.
