Position Summary

Research Associate 1-Engineer will participate in developing, designing, and implementing research projects within Dr. Queen’s research lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The role includes administering and conducting scientific experiments, independently reproducing, evaluating, researching, and improving techniques, and adapting new methods for existing procedures. Responsibilities also encompass researching current state of science in injury mechanisms, rehabilitation from injury or disease, and human development;

developing and evaluating biomechanical models and computer-based systems to measure human movement; developing data analysis tools using Matlab and Python scripts and additional software packages; performing relational database development; collecting and processing 3-D motion analysis data; collecting and analyzing electromyographic data as well as pressure and load measurements; implementing new data collection methods in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment; assisting with grant development;

and performing general computer and equipment troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform relational database development.
  • Collect and process 3-D motion analysis data.
  • Collect and analyze electromyographic data as well as pressure and load measurements.
  • Implement new data collection methods in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Assist with grant development.
  • Perform general computer and equipment troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering or a related program; or Associate’s degree with 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience in gait and motion analysis.
  • Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic and/or practical knowledge to the conduct of engineering research.
  • At least one year of experience specializing in gait and motion analysis.
  • Relational database development and management experience preferred (REDCap experience).
  • Experience in an engineering research capacity desired.
  • Knowledge of biomechanics data collection methods and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work well in larger teams on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Successful completion of a background check; pre-employment physical and drug screen may be required.
Additional Information

The target hiring range for this job profile is $51,500 - $67,250, paid monthly.
