Description Of WorkThis position serves in the Fixed Asset Accounting section within the Controller's Office. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain accurate accounting records of all fixed assets for the Department of Adult Correction.
The maintenance of fixed asset records includes managing fixed asset records related to department transfers; asset dispositions; junk and/or surplus property; correction of discrepancies in manufacturer model and/or serial numbers; deletion of temporary asset numbers; assignment of all fixed asset numbers; disposition of missing assets; and retirement of fixed assets. This position also performs monthly reconciliation of asset additions to General Ledger expenses and verifies and processes equipment invoices for payment through NFCS.
Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To- Utilizing the State's E-Procurement system to resolve problems with field contacts and purchasing department to process equipment and internal sales invoices.
- Generating reports utilizing the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) fixed assets reporting module for the entire department, including the annual equipment report for all department locations.
- Audit equipment invoices and process for payment in the North Carolina Financial System balancing asset additions against the General Ledger expenses monthly.

- Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles and processes, with hands‑on experience in financial systems such as NCFS and Oracle‑based platforms.
- Experience using e-procurement systems, ensuring accurate and efficient purchasing and payment workflows.
- Proven commitment to excellent customer service, resolving inquiries promptly and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
Minimum Education And Experience
Associate degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of accounting experience (OR) High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in accounting work (OR) equivalent combination of education and experience.
