Position Overview
At Pfizer, the Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT) organization supports the reliable, efficient, and compliant manufacture of innovative therapies and vaccines. In this lab‑based (non‑GMP) role you will apply scientific and engineering expertise to process development, improvement, transfer, and investigation across the commercialization lifecycle, working closely with upstream colleagues and cross‑functional MSAT teams.
What You Will Achieve- Develop and qualify upstream models at bench and pilot scale for use in commercial biologics manufacturing and technology transfers.
- Design and execute studies, either as a lead or a team member, to support process optimization and investigation efforts.
- Analyze scientific data and communicate outcomes to relevant teams and managers.
- Author technical reports and electronic notebook entries in compliance with company expectations.
- Actively participate in group discussions, communicating problems and proposing solutions.
- Manage and execute independent projects alongside team‑based project studies.
- Work under limited supervision, receiving instructions on complex problems and developing scientific activities to support team goals.
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of experience; or master’s degree with 0+ years; or associate’s degree with 6 years; or high school diploma with 8 years of relevant experience.
- Deep understanding of upstream bioprocessing or related sub‑field (e.g., microbiology, biochemistry, fermenters).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Robust analytical abilities, including basic statistical methods (T‑test, ANOVA, regression) and graphing.
- Proficiency with personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and relevant scientific software.
- Comfortable with common AI tools such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot to improve efficiency.
- Experience troubleshooting equipment and scientific problems.
- Intermediate or advanced statistical methods (DOE design, PCA, multivariate analysis).
- Experience or knowledge related to digitizing a laboratory environment (networking, databasing, user interface development).
- Knowledge of GMP practices, including change management.
- Experience supporting commercial investigations.
- Experience developing AI agents or digital workflows (e.g., Power App, Power Automate, Power BI).
- Experience with microbial pathogens.
- Experience with facility design and/or troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Familiarity with DMAIC principles and processes.
Lifting, sitting, standing, walking, crouching, bending; ability to perform mathematical calculations and complex data analysis.
Work Schedule & TravelShift and schedule flexibility is required; work is generally scheduled during normal business hours. No routine travel expected.

Compensation & BenefitsAnnual base salary ranges from $82,700 to $137,900. Eligible for Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 10% of base salary. Benefits include 401(k) with company matching, paid vacation, holidays, personal days, caregiver and medical leave, and comprehensive medical, prescription, dental, and vision coverage.
