Scope
Patrols 65 acres of land, including the campus perimeter, interior of eight buildings, and athletic complex, to ensure safety and well‑being of the community. Collaborates with the Campus Safety Manager to monitor activities, communicating relevant information such as security breaches and threats to the Campus Safety Manager and Director of Campus Operations.
Position Responsibilities- Inspect the school campus at least four times per shift and interact with school community members (students, employees, parents) to develop relationships, identify potential issues, and ensure policies and procedures are properly executed.
- Act as the first responder to school emergencies and crises, providing necessary assistance and support.
- Conduct regular safety patrols and proactively address concerns within scope of work.
- Write incident reports for thefts, vehicle accidents, personal injuries, suspicious persons, vandalism, property damage, assaults, threats, false alarms, altercations, and for calling fire, EMS, or police.
- Ensure locking of perimeter doors at appropriate times, monitor camera system via iPad or desktop.
- Ensure all persons on campus are identifiable with visible badges.
- Monitor visiting groups for facilities rentals and communicate concerns to Associate Director of Campus Operations.
- Enter security‑related information regarding special events into the events manager.
- Record issues such as fire hazards, leaks, or malfunctioning equipment/lighting affecting safety or security through the work order system.
- Serve as primary contact for parking during school events, with assistance from Campus Operations staff.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence, engaging with students, employees, and others on campus without bias.
- Educate and re‑direct students, employees, and visitors as needed.
- Participate in ongoing professional development; complete all required administrative, operational, and professional development tasks promptly.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
- High school diploma and 3 years of security experience, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated skills in responding to and managing challenging emergency situations.
- Valid NC driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to become and maintain certifications in First Aid/CPR & AED, Non‑Violent Crisis Prevention, Trauma Informed Care.
- Exceptional writing, oral, and interpersonal skills, including conflict management and collaboration.
- Experience working with children & youth in a diverse workplace preferred.
- Computer skills:
Internet and Microsoft applications, report writing experience. - High integrity and model role for CA students; work collegially with employees, parents, and community partners; cooperate with vendors and contractors.
- Ability to walk, stand, sit in a vehicle for extended periods; respond to physical or emergency situations.
- Willingness to engage with the CA community beyond job scope.
- Confidentiality and sensitivity in interactions with students, parents, employees, and constituents.

Scheduled to work on campus year‑round, with flexibility to meet responsibilities. Expected to work as necessary; schedule may be temporarily modified.
Hours:
5 pm–10 pm Monday–Friday; actual times determined by supervisor and may fluctuate.
