Correctional Sergeant II (S)
Roanoke River Correctional Institution, Halifax County, NC.
Responsibilities- Provide first-line supervision for Correctional Officer II's in a medium custody facility and Correctional Officer I’s in a minimum custody facility.
- Supervise officer activities and performance, ensuring custody, security, and inmate welfare.
- Conduct shift line-up, assign duty posts, and inspect all personnel for physical and mental readiness.
- Complete, review, and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
- Account for persons and funds, ensuring all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
- Implement operational procedures and enforce rules and regulations in accordance with policy.
- May supervise inmates in restrictive housing.
- Report or stay over during adverse weather events as required.
Salary Range: $39,244-$68,679 (Grade NC08).
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent and 2 years 6 months of experience as a Correctional Officer, or 2 years experience as a Correctional Officer II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.
- Pass a criminal background check, negative drug screening, medical and psychological evaluations, and possess a valid driver's license.
