Position Description
The General Laborer position plays a critical role in ensuring overall project success by performing a variety of manual labor tasks on an assigned job site. These tasks can include ditch digging, hand excavations, loading/unloading/movement of work materials, and operating various tools and equipment. The ideal candidate works safe, takes initiative, is organized and detail oriented, and is willing to assist with all assigned project tasks.
Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, forklifts, skid loaders and other tools as directed to complete daily tasks.
Clean and prepare job sites as needed, including erecting scaffolding, removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials, and digging trenches.
Shovel materials to and from construction areas, including dirt and gravel.
Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site on a daily basis.
Load and unload construction supplies from trucks both manually and with the use of equipment.
Follow project instructions from superintendent and/or foreman.
Ensure regulated and proper headgear, gloves, safety glasses, and clothing are worn.
Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
Provide assistance to skilled craft workers as needed.
Operate and carry out job duties in accordance with FHG’s Core Values and Code of Ethics.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred.
- At least one year of general construction experience.
- Experience with 100% travel away from home preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills with all levels of management.
- Able to work independently or as an active member of a team.
- Comfortable climbing tall ladders, working at heights, and working in confined spaces.
- Possess a valid state or federal .
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain a TWIC card.
