JOB SUMMARY
Mechworks Mechanical Contractors is an employee‑owned mechanical contractor, so our technicians build equity through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), not just a paycheck. We are hiring commercial HVAC Service Technicians to perform preventive maintenance, service, and repair across our service district. We hire and promote across three levels, so there is a clear path to grow your skills, pay, and responsibility.

Pay range: $22 to $50 per hour, based on level, experience, and certifications.

Service Manager and Dispatcher
Supervises:
Entry and Mid‑Level technicians have no direct reports. Senior technicians provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior technicians.

Work schedule:
Normal workday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be available to work before and after normal hours as needed or scheduled. Mid‑Level and Senior technicians participate in the on‑call roster.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on commercial HVAC systems.
- Follow all city, state, federal, and EPA codes, and keep required maintenance records.
- Recommend parts and give clear updates to customers on every job.
- Follow and reinforce safety policies so work is done safely and efficiently.
- Document each service call and complete field paperwork daily on the company iPad.
- Entry Level (1 to 2 years of experience) – Preventive maintenance and light troubleshooting and repair; service split and ductless systems, furnaces, compressors, thermostats, and rooftop units; EPA Universal Certification required; willing to attend HVAC classes to advance.
- Mid‑Level (5 to 10 years; all Entry Level skills plus) – Full service and repair on larger equipment, including systems up to 50 tons, boilers, air‑cooled chillers, DOAS and MUA units, and rooftop units; support new construction and perform equipment start‑up and warranty work; HVAC certification and/or an HVAC associate degree in addition to EPA Universal Certification.
- Senior Level (10 to 20 years; all Mid‑Level skills plus) – Analyze, plan, and lead preventive maintenance on systems up to 100 tons, and plan equipment shutdowns; provide site surveys and labor estimates to support customer quotes, and mentor junior technicians; OSHA 10 certification required (OSHA 30 within 6 months); lift certifications a plus.
- High school diploma or GED.
- EPA Universal Certification.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints and interpret technical manuals.
- Able to pass a background check and pre‑employment drug screen, including checks required to work on military and government properties.
- Experience by level: 1 to 2 years (Entry), 5 to 10 years (Mid‑Level), 10 to 20 years (Senior).
- HVAC certification and/or associate degree required for Mid‑Level and above; NATE certification preferred.

Must be able to lift and/or carry 15 to 50 pounds; sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, and perform repetitive hand motions; hear and speak; and travel as needed. May experience prolonged and irregular work hours and frequent interruptions. Must be able to climb extension and fixed ladders and work within confined spaces as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWork occurs on commercial and industrial sites, including rooftops, mechanical rooms, and confined spaces, and in all weather, including extreme heat and cold. The role involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, high noise, heights, and refrigerants and other chemicals. Mechworks provides the safety equipment and training required for the work.
