Job Overview
Title: Health Care Technician I (S)
Agency: Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities
Location: Cherry Hospital, Goldsboro, North Carolina
Grade: MH01
ResponsibilitiesProvide facilitative services and quality care for the welfare, safety, and security of individuals at Cherry Hospital.
Observe, interact, and provide ongoing feedback to individuals under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Work with the interdisciplinary/treatment team and provide input on each individual’s care and condition.
Engage individuals diagnosed with psychiatric and/or developmental conditions, managing unpredictable, maladaptive, and aggressive behaviors.
Implement specific interventions identified in the individual’s comprehensive treatment plan.
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent education/experience.
Basic knowledge of psychiatric, intellectual disabilities, medical, or related conditions.
Basic knowledge of dietetics, sanitation, and personal hygiene.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Must successfully pass all required parts of CPI’s Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention upon continued employment.
Preferred:
Nurse Aide I certification by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation (training provided if not certified).
Salary Range: $35,360 - $38,688
Recruitment Range: $31,200 - $44,261
Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $15,000 for new hires between June 1 – August 31 2026 (subject to budget).
Shift Premiums:
- Day shift (Saturday & Sunday): 5%
- Evening shift (Monday‑Friday): 10%;
Saturday & Sunday: 15% - Night shift (Friday‑Sunday): 15%;
Monday‑Thursday: 10% - Eligibility requires 30‑40 hours a week for the sign‑on bonus; prorated for fewer hours.
