Description
This primary purpose of this position is to provide intake services within the Child Welfare Division. The Social Worker serves as the portal of entry for Child Protective Services by receiving and processing reports of neglect, abuse and dependency. Essential functions include: completing intake reports received by phone, in person, fax, mail, or e-mail, and other related intake tasks; tracking data for reports received, accepted, denied, and transferred in/out to other counties, other states, law enforcement, and the office of the District Attorney;
completing monthly reporting to Child Welfare Managers, the agency Director, and the State of NC when data is needed/requested from completed intake tasks; keying data into systems maintained by the State of NC such as PATHNC; running reports for Child Welfare staff and managers; and providing onsite job shadowing for new hires as duties/time permits.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in social work form an appropriately accredited institution; OR bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; OR bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience. Other requirements include possession of a driver’s license valid in the state of N.C.
Note:
In accordance with State mandates and the Halifax County Emergency Operations Plan, Halifax County Social Services staff are required to staff emergency shelters during times of disaster. Please be advised that every staff person is eligible to be assigned to an emergency shelter or Emergency Operations Center.
