About the jobThe Platform Data Interface team in the Platform Services division seeks a Senior Software Developer. The team builds and maintains the access layer for application storage solutions in the SAS Viya Platform using Golang and other technologies. You will help maintain and improve these technologies, adhere to SLAs and security requirements, and develop new data storage and access solutions.
As a Senior Software Developer, we are looking for someone who:- Designs and develops high‑quality, testable, and scalable software solutions within established timelines while following R&D best practices.
- Actively involves other project stakeholders (e.g., managers, developers, UI and visual designers, product managers) to ensure implementations satisfy functional requirements and align with R&D standards.
- Participates in project scoping and scheduling; tracks task progress and alerts stakeholders of blocking issues.
- Ensures quality through functional, unit, and performance testing; collaborates with testing teams by reviewing test plans and recommending updates for code changes.
- Maintains accountability for the entire life cycle of the code, including support for internal and external consumers.
- Collaborates with technical writers to produce design and technical documentation for both internal and external audiences.
- Participates in open‑source projects on behalf of SAS.
- Ensures all applicable security policies and processes are followed to meet the organization’s secure software development goals.

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 8+ years of experience as a developer on large software projects.
- Experience writing Golang and/or Java.
- Experience with relational databases.
- Experience using Git Hub for source management.
- Experience with integration, regression, and unit testing.
- Experience using Agile development practices.
- Experience operating in a CI/CD environment.
- Experience with Liquibase and/or other database schema management and migration tools.
- Familiarity with data‑persistence in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with various cloud environments and concepts.
- Equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered.

- Communication – Conveying information clearly and concisely to individuals or groups, facilitating understanding and retention; actively listening.
- Technological savvy – Leveraging practical knowledge of recent technology tools, solutions, and trends to improve results and seize new business opportunities.

- Experience developing applications in Kubernetes.
- Experience developing Kubernetes CRDs and Operators.
- Experience shipping packaged commercial software.
- Experience in Dev Ops/SRE.
- Familiarity with optimizing database access patterns.
