The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting secure, enterprise‑grade web and backend solutions that enable Met Life’s digital platforms across the United States. Guided by our purpose and New Frontier strategy, this role contributes to the modernization of both legacy and cloud‑based applications that serve millions of customers.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and support enterprise‑caliber web and backend solutions using Java, Angular, and React
JS within modern, cloud‑based applications. - Create and enhance major application features and components, ensuring code quality, performance, and security standards are met.
- Implement and modernize Java‑based solutions on legacy platforms, identifying opportunities for platform and architecture improvements.
- Ensure secure, reliable software delivery through the use of Dev Sec Ops best practices and the application of generative AI where appropriate.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and cross‑functional agile teams, actively participating in ceremonies while supporting production incidents and service requests.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 4+ years of experience in application design, coding, testing, and troubleshooting, with 3+ years developing applications in Java.
- 2+ years of experience developing applications using a modern JavaScript framework, like Angular, and React
JS. - 2+ years of experience developing RESTful APIs.
- 1+ years of experience with Dev Ops practices.
- 1+ years of experience with Cloud native applications deployed to Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, (CI/CD, release management, automation) using Azure Dev Ops, experience with relational and No
SQL databases. - 2+ years of experience with Git‑based repositories (Git Hub, Bitbucket, Azure Repos).
- 1+ years of experience in Microsoft Azure tools and modern AI concepts (generative AI, machine learning, large language models, conversational AI).
Location Expectation:
This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short‑term incentive compensation and stock‑based long‑term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
