We are seeking a hands-on API Architect to own the API layer of an enterprise Azure Data Hub
. This is a design-and-build role
, with approximately a 60/40 split between architecture and hands-on engineering
.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in API architecture, Java Spring Boot/Web Flux, Azure, Python, API security, event-driven integration, CI/CD, and Terraform
.

• 13+ years of API, integration, or backend engineering experience
• 3+ years owning API Architecture & Design at enterprise scale
• Strong Java, Spring Boot, Spring Web Flux & Project Reactor
• Reactive streams, back pressure, non-blocking I/O & file streaming
• REST, OpenAPI, contract-first development & API versioning
• Large file transfer SFTP, signed URLs, multipart/resumable uploads
• Azure App Service, AKS or Container Apps
• Azure API Management (APIM)
• Entra , Managed Identities, RBAC, Key Vault & Private Endpoints
• Azure Event Hubs / Service Bus / Kafka
• OAuth2, OIDC, JWT & API security
• Python for automation, testing & operational tooling
• Strong SQL & data modeling
• Azure Dev Ops CI/CD & Terraform
• Contract, integration, load & automated testing
• Azure Monitor & Application Insights
• Strong technical communication and architecture documentation

• Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory & ADLS Gen2
• Medallion / Lakehouse architecture
• AZ-204 / AZ-305 or equivalent certification
• Insurance / Financial Services experience
• Workday / ERP integrations
• GraphQL / gRPC / Event Streaming
• API Gateway migration or consolidation
• Data Mesh / Data Products / Data Contracts

• Hands-on Architect not a diagrams-only architect
• Strong coding and architecture background
• Able to build reference services and establish engineering standards
• Experience working directly with client architects and engineering teams
• Strong troubleshooting and production incident experience
• Ability to mentor engineers and lead technical design reviews
