Firmware Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Firmware Engineer to support the development and lifecycle management of innovative industrial computing products. This role will focus on embedded firmware and software development across ARM processors, microcontrollers, and x86-based systems. The ideal candidate will be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept and design through prototype validation, manufacturing support, and production release.

• Develop and maintain embedded firmware and software for ARM SoCs and microcontroller-based platforms.
• Design, port, and support Linux device drivers for ARM-based products.
• Support custom x86 UEFI/BIOS development and modifications.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, manufacturing, and product teams to define and implement firmware requirements.
• Assist in prototype builds, testing, and validation activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve firmware, driver, and hardware integration issues.
• Work closely with third‑party vendors and external engineering partners on firmware development projects.
• Support product certification efforts through technical documentation review and issue resolution.
• Investigate, track, and prioritize firmware‑related defects and customer‑reported issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation related to firmware development and validation.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for engineering and development processes.
• Ensure firmware solutions meet customer requirements and provide a positive end‑user experience.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of firmware or embedded software development experience.
• Strong programming experience with C and Assembly language.
• Experience developing firmware for ARM‑based processors, SoCs, or microcontrollers.
• Hands‑on experience debugging embedded systems using JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers, or similar tools.
• Experience with Linux operating systems and embedded software development.
• Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and support hardware/software integration.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional engineering environment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
