• Trainee Pay Range: $15 per hour
• Bus Driver Pay Range: $19.56 - $25.08 (includes local supplement; based on state service)

• Complete all training duties to become a school bus driver, including classroom instruction and testing to obtain a NC DMV CDL Class B learner's permit with P & S endorsements within the first 60 days of employment.
• Complete behind‑the‑wheel training to obtain a NC CDL Class B license with P & S endorsements.
• Obtain a Class B CDL with P & S endorsements within the first 90 days of employment.
• Pass the DOT physical.
• Assist the bus driver in making safety decisions, seat assignments, and documentation of discipline problems, reporting to the Principal or Assistant Principal at assigned schools.
• Assist in conducting pre/post‑trip inspections.
• Learn and follow all bus routes assigned to the school.
• Assist with safe loading and unloading of passengers and clear the area when backing the bus.
• Keep students seated throughout the bus route and keep aisles free of objects.
• Ensure passenger safety during all aspects of bus transportation.

• Eligible to obtain a School Bus Certification (clean driving record).
• Employee will be moved to a School Bus Driver position within the BCS system upon proper licensing.

No benefits until completion of bus driver certification. Partial benefits if the position is 4+ hours; full benefits if the position is 6+ hours.
