Position Title: Para educator I

Classification: Classified (Hourly)

Reports to: Site Principal or designee

Supervises: N/A

Term: 189 days

Position Summary

As a member of the Casa Grande Union High School District, the Para educator I promotes a positive and successful learning experience. The role supports student retention, academic success, and post‑secondary goals, including new student orientation programs. The Para educator assists students in goal setting, provides continuous communication and follow‑up, and works to maximize their achievement.

Qualifications
  • Experience working in a high school setting
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • 60 college credit hours or a passing grade on the Para Pro Test
  • Experience working with a diverse student population
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience in peer leadership and parental involvement
  • Valid driver’s license with no serious violations
  • Enthusiastic, interpersonal, and engaging with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community
  • Proficiency with electronic equipment: word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, telecommunications
  • Adept at applying constructive techniques to resolve issues
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support student orientation and transition processes
  • Teach groups to support blended learning strategies alongside content teachers
  • Assist students with goal setting, planning and overcoming obstacles in education and career pathways
  • Build rapport and trust with students to support goal completion
  • Monitor student progress toward goals
  • Track LMS and SIS progress
  • Conduct follow‑ups with program participants
  • Offer advice as needed
  • Support instructors and program staff in infusing instruction with persistence and success strategies
  • Aid students and instructors in resolving progress‑related issues, attendance and other academic matters
  • Develop and present lessons or workshops
  • Monitor student assessment scores and attendance
  • Teach students how to advocate for themselves
  • Maintain advising logs or case management files to track contact hours, issues, and outcomes
  • Communicate with parents, students via call/text/meeting to set goals and develop work plans
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the principal or Department Instructional Leader, including MTSS, department meetings, professional development, and staff meetings

Physical Demands

Employees frequently stand and talk, sometimes walk and sit, using hands, arms, and fingers to input data. Occasional handling of items up to 20 lbs may be required. Vision required: close vision to read handwritten or typed material, focus variation, depth perception.
