Job DescriptionPurpose Statement: The job of Assistant Network Administrator is to ensure the stable operation of the Casa Grande Elementary School District 4 network infrastructure. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links. As part of this role, the Administrator will also ensure the stability and integrity of voice, data, video, security and wireless network services.
This job reports to the Network Administrator.
Essential Functions- Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.
- Required to perform functions.
- Receives, prioritizes, and responds to incoming work orders, telephone calls, and/or emails regarding equipment and/or connectivity problems.
- Defines and controls access privileges, roles, and group membership of the user community for the purpose of controlling and monitoring security of district information systems.
- Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, cyber security incident response, and disaster recovery.
- Conducts testing and development of cyber security incident response plans and disaster recovery plans to detect faults, minimize malfunctions and backup systems as it relates to network functionality.
- Provides escalation support to other department staff in relation to complicated desktop, network, telephony, or software application issues, for the purpose of providing efficient problem resolution.
- Provides support of network systems and infrastructure, (e.g. cabling, electronics/hardware, backup/restore functionality, software applications, and resolutions of network operational issues) for the purpose of maximizing availability of network systems.
- Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, network operational processes, and service records.
- Monitors network performance and troubleshoots problem areas as needed to identify and remedy network performance bottlenecks.
- Ensures network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, printing and copy machines, and other network appliances.
- Performs on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network problems for a variety of end users, and recommends and implements corrective solutions.
- Manages planning and maintenance of network cabling, including MDF and IDF closets, and participates in managing all network security solutions.
Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work.
Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
Job RequirementsMinimum Qualifications:
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS:
Preparation and maintaining accurate records; planning and managing projects; operating standard office equipment; and utilizing pertinent software applications.
KNOWLEDGE:
Proficient in algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information; write technical materials; speak persuasively to implement desired actions; analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge includes proven experience and success with enterprise-level LAN, WAN, and WLAN engineering, design, and implementation; proven ability to engineer routers, switches, and access points; proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices;
excellent technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards; strong knowledge of network management and analysis tools; working technical knowledge of VoIP telephony; knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws; knowledge, understanding and ability to create and maintain thorough technical documentation.
