General
Purpose:
Under general supervision, performs technical duties related to the collection, maintenance, and presentation of spatial data.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- Uses a computer to collect and maintain spatial data of operational importance to the City of Casa Grande.
- Assists with the maintenance of enterprise spatial databases.
- Assists with the implementation and maintenance of enterprise-grade software applicable to Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Maintains secure and accurate spatial data with an emphasis on addresses and streets.
- Creates professional maps as requested by staff and executive management.
- Assists with the promotion and use of GIS inside the City of Casa Grande.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education and Experience:Associate Degree or equivalent course work at a technical or vocational school in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Computer Science or closely related field, OR two (2) years of technical experience in working with GIS; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements :Valid State of Arizona Driver’s License. This position also supports public safety personnel and systems. Employee will need to maintain Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) Network Terminal Operator:
Technical – Level D certification with the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) after hire.
Skills:
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Knowledge of enterprise-grade spatial software products.
- Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Online and Software as a Service (SaaS) hosted cloud architecture.
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) spatial data concepts with an emphasis on topology, linear referencing, spatial statistics, cartography, geographic coordinate systems, and projected coordinate systems.
- Skill in researching public records with an emphasis on site plans, recorded plats, land use, public infrastructure, and Civil Engineering as-builts.
- Skill in creating and standardizing spatial data.
- Skill in creating and maintaining process documentation relevant to GIS.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative partnerships with internal departments and external agencies.
- Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing.
Standard office environment with occasional outside work.
