Job Overview
Hexcel invites skilled manufacturing professionals to join our Casa Grande, AZ location as a Finishing Operator. The position begins at $25.00 per hour for a 90‑day New Hire Orientation Period, which then increases to $27.31 per hour. The shift schedule alternates:
Week1 – Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday 7:00AM–7:00PM;
Week2 – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 7:00AM–7:00PM. Overtime is often required.
- Process material at the slice level after cutting and route it through Light Inspection, Trim Saw, Node Repair, Wash & Dry, Blow Out, and Packing operations.
- Perform Light Inspection by verifying cell conformance to specifications, removing blisters and plugs as needed, and ensuring all material is conforming before final checks.
- Trim material to required tolerances with a trim saw and rebuild cell nodes by bonding slices, tacking defects, and reworking nonconforming material.
- Remove excess dust through Blow Out and Wash & Dry operations, and pack material in the correct size boxes with proper labeling.
- Log work using paper forms and coordinate with planning, scheduling, supervisors, leads, and engineers to manage priorities and support project demands.
- Repair and rework nonconforming material using a rework oven, splicing/adhesive cure, tacking open nodes, cleaning fuzz, and removing excess resin or contaminants.
- Perform visual inspections using light inspection tables and identify discrepancies before moving material to source or shipping areas.
- Prepare and submit monthly test samples of splicing work to QA for integrity testing and maintain records of material quality and dimensions.
- Operate moving band and table saws, calculate yields, and use templates for sawing special glass parts; also inspect cores for quality and dimensions prior to trimming.
- Manage inventory and material movement by using forklifts, carts, or lowboys, logging transactions, and tracking orders to ensure completion and accurate reporting.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of manufacturing experience; six months in the Hexcel Casa Grande facility may substitute.
- Proficiency in using tape measure and ruler.
- Basic computer data entry skills and ability to interpret safety, operating, and maintenance documents.
- Strong communication skills for writing routine reports, correspondence, and speaking before groups.
- Mathematical proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting bar graphs.
- Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and solve problems involving multiple concrete variables.
- U.S. citizenship or lawful status as specified by the Immigration and Nationality Act.
