Metal Shop Apprentice

ACO, Inc. is seeking a Metal Shop Apprentice in Amarillo, TX to support fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal containers and equipment used in environmental and industrial services. Working under experienced technicians, you will assist with cutting, grinding, fitting, and basic welding of metal components; cleaning and preparing materials; and organizing tools and work areas. The role includes learning to read simple drawings, using hand and power tools safely, and following strict safety and environmental procedures.

Ideal for candidates wanting hands-on trade experience and growth into higher-level shop or field roles.

Responsibilities

• Assist with fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal containers and equipment
• Perform basic cutting, grinding, fitting, and tack welding under supervision
• Clean, prepare, and stage metal materials and components for jobs
• Use hand and power tools safely and per company procedures
• Help read and follow simple shop drawings and measurements
• Maintain organized, clean, and safe metal shop work areas
• Follow all safety, PPE, and environmental compliance requirements
• Assist with inspections and minor repairs to containers and shop equipment
