Schedule:

Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:30pm. 4 days a week with 10 hour shifts. On‑call obligations for weekend/holidays.

Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. It is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction, utilizing specialized knowledge and judgment to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the patient’s age and condition.

Functions
  • Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history, physical, diagnostics, and laboratory data, reports abnormal results to physicians, and completes assessment and reassessments as outlined in policy.
  • Formulates a plan of care, including a realistic, measurable discharge plan, incorporating patient, family, and health team input, and revises the plan in response to changing patient needs.
  • Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team, ensuring compliance with orders, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluates the patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching, revises the plan of care as needed, and evaluates progress toward goals.
  • Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring legible, timely, and policy‑compliant documentation.
  • Provides care based on the best evidence and may participate in research activities; participates in unit or facility shared leadership.
  • Interacts with all levels of staff and external contacts to report or clarify patient information and coordinates support, including spiritual care, as needed.
  • Contributes to society through activities that lead to optimal patient outcomes and participates in improvement of national nursing quality indicators.
  • In some roles, may supervise staff and workflow of the department.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Must possess a current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
    • BLS certification is required.
    • Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
    • Experience in the clinical area for which the applicant is applying is desired.
    • Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area through annual validations.
    • Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months.
    • Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area.
    • Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require a minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or an acute care setting.
    • In a Home Health setting, team members must be able to operate a personal vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license, and maintain active auto insurance coverage.
    • Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, or BUMG/BUMCT in a behavioral health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment; an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must also be signed upon hire.
    • Employees working at BUMCS in a behavioral health clinical setting must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it throughout employment.
    • Employees working for Banner Home Care AZ must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it throughout employment.
    • Employees working in any Banner Staffing (BSS) behavioral health role in Arizona must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it throughout employment.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Professional certification preferred.
    • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
