The job of Skilled Maintenance Specialist - Structural Journeyman is done for the purpose/s of maintaining District facilities and campuses for students, staff and public in safe operating condition; maintaining a preventive maintenance program; and performing skilled maintenance and repair (e.g. electrical, plumbing, locksmith, HVAC, grounds maintenance, etc.) to resolve immediate operational and/or safety concerns.

This job requires four years of prior successful work experience in Journeyman level structural craftmanship.

This job reports to the Director of Facility Services.

Essential Functions:

• Coordinates assistance for repairs on various items, systems and/or components requiring skills of associated maintenance trades (e.g. electrical, plumbing, locksmith, HVAC, etc.)
• Inspects facility systems and their components (play structures, facility structural and specialty support systems, etc.)
• Operates and maintains vehicles, tools (powered and hand) and specialty equipmentperforms a full range of structural journeyman skills and techniques (carpentry, sheet metal, cement finishing, masonry, texture and painting)
• Prepares documentation (e.g. cost estimates, material & tool requisitions, drawings, work orders, etc.)
• Requests material, equipment and supplies; responds to emergency situations; reviews submitted work orders; transports items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.)
• Utilizes computer systems and wireless devices; applies pesticide applications, as required Assists other skill trades (e.g. electrical, plumbing, locksmith, HVAC, etc.)and performs other duties, as assigned.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Requirements:
Valid Arizona Driver's License & Evidence of Insurability, Pesticide Applicator's and Pesticide Qualified Applicator's License, as required. Criminal Justice/Fingerprint Clearance.

Continuing education occasionally required to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Asbestos Awareness and Operations Maintenance training, as needed.
