The job of the Bus Driver Substitute is to transport students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring the vehicle is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from buses.

• Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior.
• Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations.
• Assists students and other passengers during transit.
• Attends meetings, trainings, etc.
• Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior.
• Conducts emergency evacuation drills.
• Drives school bus(es).
• Fuels assigned vehicle (e.g., oil, water, fuel, etc.).
• Performs pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.).
• Prepares documents and reports (e.g., field trip reports, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.).
• Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g., discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.).
• Responds to inquiries (e.g., students, parents, other school personnel, etc.).
• Supervises students and other passengers during transit.
• Assists other personnel as may be required.

Experience is desired. Substitute will work on an as needed basis with hours to vary. $19.40 per hour – depending on experience; w/ Certificate. $15.80 per hour during District provided training for new bus drivers. Position is non-benefitted.

• Alcohol and Drug Test.
• Pre‑placement Physical Exam.
• Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance.
• Random drug testing.
• Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
