The job of the Bus Driver Substitute is to transport students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring the vehicle is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from buses.

Responsibilities include:

• advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior
• assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations
• assists students and other passengers
• attends meetings, trainings, etc.
• cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior
• conducts emergency evacuation drills
• drives school bus(es)
• fuels assigned vehicle (e.g., oil, water, fuel, etc.)
• performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.)
• prepares documents and reports (e.g., field trip reports, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.)
• reports observations and/or incidents (e.g., discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.)
• responds to inquiries (e.g., students, parents, other school personnel, etc.)
• supervises students and other passengers during transit
• assists other personnel as may be required

Experience is desired. Substitute will work on an as needed basis with hours to vary. $19.40 per hour - depending on experience; w/Certificate. $15.80 per hour during District provided training for new bus drivers. Position is non-benefitted.
