Step into history while creating memorable experiences for visitors from near and far! Fort Caspar Museum is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer focused Cashier to join our team.
In this role, you will be one of the first faces visitors see as they explore one of Casper's most unique historic attractions. From welcoming guests and processing admissions to assisting with gift shop purchases and sharing information about local history, every day offers the opportunity to connect with the community and help bring history to life.
What You'll Do
* Greet museum visitors and provide excellent customer service
* Process admissions and gift shop purchases using the cash register
* Answer phone calls and respond to visitor questions
* Share information about Fort Caspar history and exhibits
* Assist with gift shop merchandising and restocking
* Help maintain an organized, welcoming front desk and retail area

Incumbents are responsible for providing courteous customer service and cashier services; including collecting admission fees, answering phones, responding to customer questions, and related work as required.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Receives direct supervision from higher level supervisory and management staff.
Typical Class Essential Duties
1. Provides front line customer service needs at a facility entrance.
2. Collects admission fees, pre-packaged food purchases, and/or retail items and maintains related records to follow City policies and procedures relating to accounts receivable tasks.
3. Counts money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and there is adequate change available.
4. Stocks supplies such as food or retail sales inventory in a safe and efficient manner.
5. Maintains clean and orderly cashier station and performs basic routine cleaning tasks.
6. Provides general customer service and communication with the public regarding safety, policies, rules, and general information about the facility or event.
7. Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
8. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Knowledge (position requirements at entry):
Knowledge of:
* Basic customer service principles.
* Basic mathematical calculations.
Abilities (position requirements at entry):
Ability to:
* Work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays.
* Learn cashiering methods and procedures.
* Learn cash register operation.
* Routinely demonstrate the City of Casper core values.
* Follow all City safety rules and procedures and reports all accidents/incidents immediately to supervisor.
* Facilitate visitor and customer traffic to their appropriate destination.
* Encourage safety protocols to all visitors and customers.
* Respond to inquiries, complaints, and requests.
* Maintain attention to detail in a work situation with frequent interruptions.
* Handle multiple customers at the same time.
* Learn general layout of facility to provide assistance to visitors and customers.
* Organize and/or prioritize to be efficient and effective with multiple tasks.
* Operate modern office equipment, software, and operating systems/applications.
* Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
* Communicate effectively.
* Follow written and verbal instructions and direction.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Skills (position requirements at entry):
Skill in:
* Basic mathematical calculations.
* Operating in a courteous, knowledgeable and tactful manner with customers, staff and general public.
* Oral communication sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Training, Experience & Certifications
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
* No previous training or experience required.
* First Aid/CPR Preferred.
* Must be at least 15 years of age.
* Must be at least 16 years of age to perform food service preparation.
