Summary

The position of Nursing Instructor conducts college courses in the Nursing Program for the School of Health Science, advises students, assists in recruiting students and assists with various departmental duties in accordance with departmental objectives, and participates in meeting the needs for the nursing program’s specialized accreditation.

This is a 9-month, benefited faculty position.

Responsibilities

The faculty member conducts college nursing courses for students using a variety of appropriate teaching methods; meets all scheduled classes prepared to instruct; prepares teaching syllabi for courses of study; prepares materials to adequately evaluate student progress; reports midterm and final grades when appropriate; maintains accurate and adequate records; establishes regular office hours for student consultation.

The faculty member performs other related duties as assigned, which duties include but are not necessarily limited to: advising students on academic curricula; serving on faculty committees; participating in faculty meetings; providing recommendations for preparation of departmental budgets; participating in the development of nursing and health science curricula; participating in the accreditation process for the nursing program and institution; and adhering to all institutional policies.

The faculty member keeps up with developments in the field of nursing and health care by reading current literature, communicating with colleagues, and participating in professional development.

Additional assignments may be established where appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with students, faculty, clinical partners, and community stakeholders to support positive learning environments and program outcomes.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate curriculum using evidence-based teaching practices, instructional technologies, and learning theory.
  • Facilitate student learning across classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings, promoting critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and professional role development.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance using diverse strategies across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains; provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Support diverse learners by adapting teaching methods to meet varied educational, cultural, and individual learning needs.
  • Advise and mentor students in academic progression, professional development, and program policies.
  • Serve as a professional role model by demonstrating clinical competence, ethical practice, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation processes, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to departmental, school, and institutional service through committee participation, meetings, and policy development.
  • Engage in professional development, scholarship, and dissemination of knowledge to enhance teaching effectiveness and advance nursing education.
  • Coordinate and support simulation and laboratory learning experiences, including development of activities, materials, and student skill validation as assigned.
  • Manage instructional resources and support program operations, which may include lab coordination, inventory oversight, testing support (e.g., ATI), and student skill remediation.
  • Support student organizations, recruitment efforts, and community engagement activities that promote the nursing program.
  • Maintain compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and legal/ethical requirements; perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing and holds a current unencumbered RN license in the state of Wyoming or eligible for licensure as an RN in the state of Wyoming
  • Must be able to complete at least ten (10) clock hours of educational preparation in principles and methods of teaching, learning, and evaluation of performance outcomes within six (6) months of hire date
  • Commitment to Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) education
  • Physical abilities to meet the demands of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to meet clinical agency requirements, including maintaining current CPR certification and providing documentation of required immunizations (e.g., Hepatitis B, MMR, varicella) and TB screening, consistent with healthcare facility standards
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge or interest in acquiring knowledge about methodology for traditional and alternative instruction and the application of technologies
  • Previous work experience in the areas of responsibility
Work Environment

Work is primarily performed in a classroom, laboratory, simulation center and/or clinical setting. Work is usually performed during the normal work day; however, early morning, late evening and weekend work may be required. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors travelling between campus…
