Job Location: Natrona County School District #1 Journey Elementary, Casper, Wyoming

Job Description This position begins in August for the  school year only. Salary/hourly rate is a proposed increase pending Board approval in July 2026. NCSD accepts previous accredited public school teaching and administrator experience towards movement on the certified teacher salary schedule, including all verified and approved years in Wyoming and up to 5 approved years out of state. Purpose Statement The job of CLASSROOM TEACHER is to provide support to the instructional process by supervising students in the classroom and other assigned areas, developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual instruction within established curriculum guidelines, collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators to address instructional or classroom issues, and responding to inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

Essential

Functions
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders (students, parents, colleagues, etc.) to establish and maintain leadership and positive relationships while focusing on high expectations and continuous improvement for student learning.
  • Design lesson plans, individualized instruction, and address diverse learning styles/needs to ensure all students are engaged and participating in individual and classroom learning objectives.
  • Develop and guide learning in partnership with students (classroom mission, learning goals, strategies, student recognition, etc.) to ensure continuous improvement for student learning in alignment with state and district standards.
  • Evaluate individual student and class performance by analyzing assessment data and other comparative data to gauge and adjust instruction.
  • Implement current best practice instruction and resources, focusing on student needs/goals, classroom priorities, to improve and enhance student learning in alignment with state and district standards.
  • Maintain documentation and required reports (student data, reports, personal teaching certification, etc.) to comply with site, district, policy, administrative, state, and federal statutes and regulations.
  • Manage classroom structure and procedures (activities, behavioral expectations, positive classroom culture, etc.) to establish a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Model positive behaviors (professional/ethical image; relational skills, proper verbal and written communication; manners; respect diversity and mutual respect) to promote appropriate social and interpersonal behavior in alignment with district goals.
  • Oversee assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers to support an efficient classroom structure.
  • Participate in meetings (team, building, professional growth opportunities, parent/teacher conferences, etc.) to convey and gather information to perform functions.
  • Respond to emergency situations (building emergency protocol, fights, suspected child abuse, substance abuse, etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns and direct to appropriate personnel.
Other Functions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Education

Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.

Certificates & Licensure

Current Wyoming teacher certification, endorsed in the content area as required per certification.
