Sustainability Advisor – SMP

The Sustainability Advisor plays a pivotal role in supporting and driving the integration of sustainability across NEOM’s planning and development processes. The role involves both technical advisory and strategic collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure environmental goals are embedded across all project stages.

• Collaborate with internal departments to embed sustainable practices into the planning and design phases of built environment initiatives.

• Provide expert guidance on compliance reviews related to sustainability documentation and alignment with the NEOM masterplan
  .

• Advise external consultants in developing sustainability standards, frameworks, and policy documents
  .

• Monitor and ensure alignment with global best practices in sustainability and urban development.

• Deliver technical sustainability support to internal teams and external project stakeholders.

• Partner with the Sustainable Development Division to evaluate and advise on development proposals within NEOM.

• Address environmental and sustainability concerns in collaboration with planning and design units.

• Ensure that masterplans, buildings, and infrastructure projects meet defined sustainability compliance targets

• Provide technical insight and support for Stage Gate Reviews
  , including resource allocation and review documentation.

• Maintain up-to-date guidance materials and review protocols for consistent project evaluations.

• Serve as a key contact for inquiries related to project sustainability and ensure quality assurance across all review stages.

• Foster a high-performance culture within the review team, promoting accountability and excellence.

• Contribute to the development of a skilled, efficient sustainability team

• Offer continuous feedback and mentorship to enhance team performance.

• Advise on enhancements to programs, methodologies, and performance tracking.

• Represent NEOM in sustainability-related forums, collaborations, and strategic initiatives.

• Liaise with internal departments and external partners to deliver measurable sustainability outcomes

• 8–14 years of experience in leading sustainability and environmental assessments on large-scale international projects, spanning from concept to project closure.

• In-depth understanding of sustainable infrastructure frameworks such as LEED, WELL, BREEAM
  , and other recognized systems.

• Expertise in design review processes and stakeholder coordination across multiple project phases.

• Proven experience in implementing sustainable policies, procedures, and standards across complex programs.

• Strong interpersonal and mentoring capabilities, with the ability to influence and guide project teams.

• Technical proficiency in resource efficiency, life-cycle analysis
  , and economic evaluation of sustainability strategies.

• Strong command of written and verbal communication, including the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and briefings.

• Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

• Recognized certifications in sustainability such as the National Green Infrastructure Certification Program or equivalent.

• Professional accreditations in sustainability rating systems (e.g.,
  LEED AP, WELL AP, ENVISION AP
  ) are highly desirable.
